A quick guide for grown-ups

Brick Life turns an idea into a model you can build with real bricks. Your child types what they’d like (“a rocket with three engines”, “our dog”) and Brick Life designs it, shows it in 3D and makes step-by-step instructions.

The Brick card

If your child came home with a Brick card, it came from Albie, who is six and came up with Brick Life. The code on the card is how they sign in.

• No name, email or photo is needed. We don’t know who has which card.
• Up to 4 builds a day, free while Brick Life is in beta.
• Builds are private to the card. Nobody else can browse them.
• There’s nothing to chat with. They type an idea and get a model back.
• Photo uploads are switched off on Brick cards.

Who designs the models

A computer does. Brick Life uses an AI model (Claude, made by Anthropic) to design each build. Our own software then swaps every block for a real brick and checks the model holds together.

Every idea is checked first. Rude, scary or unsuitable ideas are turned down. Anything that looks like a phone number, email or address is blocked so it never leaves the site.

An instruction manual, not bricks

Brick Life makes your instruction manual: step-by-step pictures showing how to build your model, with your child’s name on the cover. We don’t sell or send bricks. Every build comes with a full parts list so you can use bricks you already have and order the rest from a brick shop. To order:

1. Open the build and scroll to Getting the bricks.
2. Press Copy list next to BrickLink.
3. Open BrickLink’s Wanted List upload page. Sign in or make a free account, paste the list and press Upload.
4. Choose Buy All. BrickLink finds shops that have the bricks, using as few shops as it can.
5. Pay each shop. The bricks come by post.

Brick Owl works the same way with the same list. Prices vary by shop. Most bricks cost a few pence each, plus postage from each shop you buy from.

Paying for things

Brick Life is free while it’s in beta. When printed or downloadable instruction manuals arrive, only a grown-up will be able to buy them, with their own email and card. Children won’t be asked to pay for anything.

Deleting a card

Email hello@brick-life.com with the code on the card and we’ll delete it with all its builds. Cards that aren’t used for about a year are deleted automatically.
